Garuda Boss About Merger With Pelita Air: Still In The Stage Of Talks With Danantara
JAKARTA - PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (GIAA) has opened its voice regarding the continuation of the merger plan or merger with PT Pelita Air Service. Until now, there has been no final decision regarding the plan.
Deputy President Director of Garuda Indonesia, Thomas Sugiarto Oentoro, revealed that his party was still discussing the planned merger with Danantara and PT Pertamina (Persero) as the parent of Pelita Air.
"Yes, that is one that we are still in the discussion stage with the stock leader, namely Danantara, and also Pertamina," Thomas said in a virtual Garuda Indonesia Public Expose, Thursday, November 27.
Furthermore, Thomas also ensured that the corporate action plan was still being studied. According to him, several options are indeed being considered.
"Right now we are conducting a study and looking at some options for that. So I can't answer in detail, but we're doing that right now," he said.
Previously, Pelita Air's Corporate Secretary, Patria Rhamadonna, confirmed that her company was ready to follow directions from shareholders regarding the planned merger or spin-off with Garuda Indonesia.
"Whatever it is, we believe that the decision was taken for the benefit of the nation," Patria said after a media briefing in Jakarta, Wednesday, November 26.

According to Patria, the planned merger is still being discussed with Danantara. He hopes that the discussion can be completed as soon as possible.
Furthermore, Patria said, this consolidation did not only occur in Pelita but also other state-owned companies.
"Right now, it's really in the process, not only Pelita Air. This means that all SOEs are in the process of being grouped or like that, that's the point. So it's not just Pelita Air, actually yes," he said.
