Kakorlantas: Vehicle Surge During Christmas-New Year Holidays Can Reach 2.9 Million, Ready One Way-Contraflow
JAKARTA - The Traffic Corps (Korlantas) of the National Police predicts that around 2.9 million vehicles will leave Jakarta via toll roads during the 2025 Christmas and 2026 New Year (Nataru) holidays.
"Especially for toll roads, we report the volume of traffic out of Christmas 2025 and New Year's 2026 projected that 2,915,318 vehicles," said Head of Traffic Police Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho in a meeting with Commission III of the DPR RI at the Parliament Building, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday, November 27.
Agus said the prediction increased by 12.2 percent compared to normal traffic and rose 0.9 percent compared to the current Nataru 2024.
"So we can still control it, whether later we have to contraflow the parameters or we make a one way," he said.
Of the total projections, as many as 880,678 vehicles are predicted to head west through the Cikupa Toll Gate (GT). Then, 690,952 vehicles are estimated to move east through the Cikampek Utama GT, and 672,457 vehicles heading south via the Kalihurip Utama GT.
In addition, there is the potential for 1,363,409 vehicles to pass at KM 66 Cikampek. Agus emphasized that recording the volume of vehicles (traffic counting) is an important factor in determining the right traffic engineering.
This traffic counting greatly determines the condition of traffic flow on toll roads, including the load in the arteries when later we do one way. Between toll roads and arteries, it must be balanced so that the way of acting must be calculated with parameters," he said.
For the backflow, Korlantas predicts that around 2.8 million vehicles will return to Jakarta. This number is lower because some people are expected to return early after the Nataru holiday.

Agus said the focus on securing the backflow includes toll roads and tourist areas.
"In Jakarta, maybe Ancol will also have a pile of people and so on. We have predicted this so that the kamseltibcarlantas on the toll road is in accordance with the traffic counting and parameters," he said.
