Jukir Paksa Wisatawan Pay Parking Rp15 Thousand In Braga, Directly Arrested By Police
The Bandung City Police (Polrestabes) arrested a illegal parking attendant who set a tariff of Rp. 15,000 to car drivers in the Braga area, Bandung City. The action went viral after being caught on video and uploaded to social media.
Sumur Bandung Police Chief Kompol Andi Agusfian Pranata said the parking attendant had initially asked for a tariff of Rp. 15,000. However, the car owner objected and was only willing to pay Rp. 5,000 according to parking rates in general.
"The perpetrator refused and still asked for Rp. 15 thousand. When asked to show an official parking card, the perpetrator could not prove it. The victim then chose to leave immediately," Andi said as quoted by Antara, Thursday, November 27.
The video of the incident was recorded by a car passenger and quickly went viral on social media. Based on a report from the Bandung Police Command Center, officers immediately went to the location and secured the perpetrator with the initials AK (44), a resident of Batununggal District, for further investigation.
The police are also investigating the possibility of burglary practices against tourists, which are often complained about in the Braga area. Andi emphasized that his party will continue to discipline illegal parking attendants, especially in tourist areas that are icons of the city of Bandung.
"We will not tolerate extortion in any form because it can disturb the public and tarnish the image of Bandung City tourism," said Andi.

Bandung Police together with the Bandung City Transportation Service will also increase socialization to official parking attendants so as not to hand over their duties to illegal parking attendants so that similar incidents do not happen again.
