Exception Rejected, Ammar Zoni Drug Case Trial Continues To Evidence Stage

JAKARTA - The Panel of Judges at the Central Jakarta District Court has decided to reject the objection or exception note filed by Ammar Zoni's team of attorneys and five other defendants. This decision ensures that the judicial process on the alleged drug abuse case will continue.

In the interim decision read by the Chief Judge, Dwi Elyarahma Sulistiyowati, it was stated that the exceptions of the defendants could not be accepted.

"Declaring the objection from the Defendant's Legal Advisor... Muhammad Amar Akbar was not accepted," said the presiding judge at the Central Jakarta District Court, Thursday, November 27.

As a consequence, the panel of judges ordered the Public Prosecutor to continue examining the case. The trial will now enter a new round that is more crucial, namely the stage of proof.

The presiding judge explained that this rejection was based on the consideration that the indictment prepared by the prosecutor had met the formal and material requirements. Therefore, the indictment is considered valid as the basis for case examination.

"The panel of judges is of the opinion that the indictment has met the formal requirements and material requirements," Dwi Elyaharma explained to the parties at the trial.

Furthermore, the judge stated that most of the points in the exception of the defendants had touched the subject matter of the case. This can only be tested and assessed by the truth through the evidentiary process at trial.

With the rejection of this exception, Ammar Zoni and the other defendants must prepare for the agenda of the next trial. The focus of the trial will go from procedural to material evidence on the charges that ensnared them.
