PLN Boss Reveals Affordable Energy Opening New Investment Opportunities
JAKARTA - President Director (Managing Director) of PT PLN (Persero) Darmawan Prasodjo said that affordable energy is able to open up new investment opportunities in Indonesia.
"With this affordable energy, there will be new investments, and from this new investment it will create jobs," Darmawan said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, November 26.
According to him, the balance between economic growth, opening and absorbing of labor, and environmental sustainability is very important for Indonesia.
PLN, said Darmawan, requires an investment of around Rp. 3,000 trillion to carry out the 2025-2034 Electricity Supply Business Plan (RUPTL), which is the basis for accelerating the energy transition and independence of the national electricity supply.
Darmawan said the 2025-2034 RUPTL set the addition of a generating capacity of 69.5 gigawatts, with 76 percent of which are based on new and renewable energy (EBT).
The realization of the RUPTL will create large numbers of jobs, strengthen energy security, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and encourage shifts from import energy to domestic energy.
The development of the system, said Darmawan, requires the construction of a 48,000 kilometer transmission network and 109,000 MegaVolt-Ampere (MVA) substations. The total investment needs reached IDR 3,000 trillion in ten years.
"For that we need to build an ecosystem that is conducive to investing and a conducive ecosystem to collaborate on," said Darmawan.
