High Expectations Accompany The Last Exercise Of The U-23 Indonesian National Team Ahead Of The 2025 SEA Games

JAKARTA - The U-23 Indonesian national team underwent the last training session at the Madya Stadium, Jakarta, on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, afternoon WIB, before leaving for Thailand the day after tomorrow to compete in the 2025 SEA Games.

In this exercise, 24 players were present to follow Indra Sjafri's direction as later the number was reduced to 23 names.

Ahead of departure, direct support was also present from the La Grande Indonesia (LGI) supporters group. Not only providing support, a firm message from the burning spirit was also conveyed in front of the players and officials.

They reminded that Indonesia came as the defending champion after ending a 32-year drought and winning gold at the 2023 Cambodian SEA Games. This is also a reference so that similar achievements can be repeated.

"In December, there will be no bronze, no silver. There is only one gold medal that you brought back to Indonesia!" exclaimed the LGI representative when giving direct support at the Madya Stadium.

The dramatic victory in Cambodia has made public expectations soar again even though the federation has set a more realistic target.

In contrast to the demands of supporters, the Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora), Erick Thohir, previously said that the official target for football at the 2025 SEA Games was more moderate, namely a silver medal.

"PSSI proposed a bronze medal for women and a silver medal for men," said Erick Thohir previously on a separate occasion.

However, optimism is still felt by Garuda's squad players. With intensive preparation, federation support, and high motivation as defending champions, the U-23 Indonesian national team is expected to be able to return to playing and maintaining the tradition of achievement on the Southeast Asian stage.
