The DKI Provincial Government Has Just Formed A Old Town Arrangement Team, Rano Karno: It Turns Out That It's Not As Easy As Imagined

JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Rano Karno revealed that the DKI Provincial Government will form an internal team in the plan to organize the Kota Tua area. This team will initiate mapping and the concept of structuring before being followed up with external parties.

"This is a new day, we want to form a committee. Internally first. Because of this, the weight is not as easy as we imagined. Because there is Danantara. Then there is the private sector. Now, this is us, today we just want to form an internal team first," said Rano in North Jakarta, Thursday, November 26.

Rano explained that the arrangement of Kota Tua cannot be done in a hurry, given the large number of parties involved and the complexity of managing the historic area, including business models and concession rights owned by the manager.

On that occasion, he mentioned the plan to attend the MRT Jakarta phase 2 whose route will go to Kota Tua in 2029. According to Rano, the alignment of the arrangement of Kota Tua with the continuity of the MRT line must be anticipated from now on so that the arrangement is not too late.

"What do you want to do? 2029 MRT has arrived there. Ah, have you got there and then what do you want to do in Kota Tua? Are you waiting for the MRT to be finished and then we will fix it? Wow, it's too late," he said.

Some time ago, DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung held a meeting with the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of BPI Danantara, Doni Oskara at DKI Jakarta City Hall. Pramono explained that Danantara and the DKI Provincial Government were compiling the first steps to start major renovations in the area.

"Earlier I received Pak Doni and also the ranks. They together with the DKI Jakarta Government to immediately start renovating for the Old City," said Pramono, Thursday, November 20.

According to Pramono, the meeting was the first step in structuring a historic area projected to be one of the transportation nodes and public activities in the capital city.

Pramono explained that the mapping of the arrangement of Kota Tua is now being carried out together with cross-institutions. He said the central government, BUMN, and DKI Provincial Government would be in one working group so that planning and development could run simultaneously.

"We are formulating a ROadmap for Kota Tua together. Later there will be a joint task force between the central government, BUMN, and the Jakarta government to immediately make improvements in Kota Tua," he said.
