DPR Will Summon Prabowo's Ministers, Ask For An Explanation About The Airport At IMIP Morowali

JAKARTA - Commission I of the DPR RI questioned the existence of an airport operating in the industrial complex of PT Indonesia Morowali Industrial Park (IMIP), Morowali, Central Sulawesi, which was said not to involve the official government authority. The commission in charge of communications and defense will ask for an official explanation from related ministries regarding this matter.

The plan to summon the government minister Prabowo Subianto was conveyed by Member of Commission I of the DPR, By Soleh when questioned on Wednesday, November 26.

By assessing that the airport operation is a form of serious negligence that threatens the country's sovereignty. He also stated that Commission I of the DPR would consider making a working visit to Morowali to ensure the situation in the field in accordance with applicable legal provisions.

By Soleh, he asked the government, especially the Ministry of Transportation, the Ministry of Finance, and defense and security forces to immediately take legal steps and enforcement measures.

Moreover, said Soleh, Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin confirmed that the airport did not have the presence of Customs and Excise or Immigration. The confirmation was conveyed by the Minister of Defense while reviewing the TNI training in Morowali.

"This must be thoroughly investigated. The government must not hesitate to take firm action against anyone who operates strategic facilities without the authority of the state. Sovereignty is the fixed price," said Soleh.

The PKB legislator from the West Java electoral district also emphasized that none of the government officials, either aviation authority, Customs and Excise, or Immigration, could enter and supervise the airport area.

According to him, this condition is a violation of the basic principles of air area management and state borders.

No airport is allowed to operate without involving the state. If there is an airport that runs alone without government supervision, it is the same as any country in the country. Such a thing should not happen," he said.

Soleh emphasized that the existence of airports without state supervision not only violates civil aviation regulations, but also has the potential to open gaps in national security threats.

"Including smuggling of goods, the mobility of people without control, as well as other illegal activities that the government cannot monitor," he explained.

As is known, these days the public has been excited by rumors of the existence of the Indonesia Morowali Industrial Park (IMIP) Airport. The reason is, the airport does not have the presence of Customs and Excise or Immigration.

This was revealed by the Minister of Defense (Menhan) Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, while reviewing the TNI's training on Wednesday, November 19.
