US Revokes Visa Of Haitian Officials Protecting Terrorist Gangs

JAKARTA - The United States has imposed visa restrictions on a Haitian official accused of supporting gangs and other criminal organizations and preventing the Haitian government from fighting "terrorist gangs."

"The department will revoke all valid visas owned by this individual," the US State Department (Deplu) said without identifying the official in question.

The policy, which was first announced in October 2022, allows the US to limit visas to individuals in some cases, as well as their family members who are considered to be assisting criminal groups in Haiti.

As reported by ANTARA from Anadolu, Tuesday, November 25, the US stated that it remains committed to supporting Haiti's stability and hopes for progress towards a free and fair election in the country, the US Department of Foreign Affairs said.

"The Haitian people are fed up with gang violence, destruction, and internal political clashes," the department said.

It was also stated that President Donald Trump's administration would hold those accountable for continuing to destabilize Haiti and the region.
