Banom PKB Holds Cross-Religious Retret, Wants Young People To Dare To Speak Up Intolerance Issues

JAKARTA - The Interim Brotherhood Agency (Berani), the autonomous body of the National Awakening Party (PKB), will hold a Cross-Iman Camp on November 28, 2025 at Buperta Cibubur.

The retreat was designed as a meeting room for young people from various religious backgrounds to encourage courage to fight the issue of intolerance.

The Head of the Steering Committee for the Cross-Iman Camp, Carolus L. Tindra, explained that this activity departed from concerns about the increasing negative perspective on diversity which was considered to hinder Indonesia's vision of Gold 2045.

"One of the studies in the field, one thing that can actually be an obstacle is the many negative perspectives on diversity. In fact, this diversity should be a force," said Carolus at the PKB DPP office, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, November 25.

He said the Cross-Iman Camp was held as a dialogue space that brought together young people from various religions, cultures, and backgrounds of families and education. According to Carolus, the main target of this activity is to produce a young generation who is not passive when dealing with issues of intolerance.

"The output is that we want to print young people who dare to speak up when there are intolerant issues in Indonesia," he said.

Participants of this retreat activity are limited to the age of 1835 years as a group that is considered strategic in an effort to encourage courage to voice tolerance.

"So indeed we specialize for young people, which can indeed be a place for us to speak up in the future when fighting intolerant issues," said Carolus.

Meanwhile, the General Chair of Dare, Lorens Manuputty, said that a number of figures were planned to attend, PKB Chairman Muhaimin Iskandar (Cak Imin) as the initiator of the event. The committee also invited President Prabowo Subianto to attend.

"Pak Prabowo is also like that, we have written and have even communicated with the President. We hope he can also attend," said Lorens.

A number of other officials were also invited to the event, including the Minister of Religion Nasaruddin Umar and several leaders of commissions in the DPR RI related to religious issues to support the implementation of these activities.
