JAKARTA - Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Saan Mustopa, asked the Indonesian Police (Polri) to improve their performance in responding to public reports, especially regarding reports about missing persons. Following the rise of child kidnapping cases and the findings of other cases involving children.

"Regarding the rise of kidnappings, like what happened in the past, of course, we really hope and ask the police to respond quickly, to be more agile in dealing with various criminal cases, especially related to the matter of kidnapping children," said Saan at the Paleman Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, November 25.

Saan emphasized that child protection should be a priority for the special state of law enforcement officers. He also encouraged the National Police to cooperate with KPAI to handle cases involving children, especially kidnappings.

Previously, the Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA), Arifah Fauzi, expressed deep concern over the recent rampant child kidnapping cases.

According to him, this situation is a serious warning to all parties that supervision, vigilance, and child protection systems must be strengthened at all levels. Violence and various forms of wrong treatment of children, including kidnapping, are serious violations of children's rights.

"When a child becomes a victim of kidnapping, it means that there are still loopholes in our supervision and protection. Countries, families, the surrounding environment, and the community must be present to ensure that children are protected, both at home, at school, and in public spaces," Arifah said in his statement, Sunday, November 16.
