The Ministry Of Public Works Will Follow Up On The Proposal For Normalization Of Drainage After The Bandang Flood Disaster In Garut
The Ministry of Public Works (PU) is ready to follow up on the proposed normalization of the drainage channel covered by sedimentation after the flash flood that hit Cisurupan District, Garut Regency, West Java Province.
The flood disaster occurred last Thursday, November 20, 2025, due to high-intensity rain that caused the Cibeureum River to overflow.
PU Minister Dody Hanggodo assessed that this was done for the sake of monitoring the condition of rivers and culverts in affected areas to ensure the stability of water flow.
"The cleaning operation does not only rely on heavy equipment, but also involves manual means using hoes and other tools," said Dody in a written statement, quoted on Tuesday, November 25.
As a quick step, the Ministry of Public Works through the Cimanuk River Basin Center (BBWS) Cisanggung has sent dump trucks and tank cars since Friday night to support the cleaning of mud materials that close residents' homes, waterways and neighborhood roads.
The Cimanuk BBWS emergency response team also continues to coordinate with the Garut BPBD, Disdamkar and sub-district officials to accelerate access recovery.
Dody emphasized that his party continues to be committed to supporting disaster management in Indonesia.
"The Ministry of Public Works is also ready to support other technical needs needed to prevent another disaster risk from happening," he stressed.
In addition to heavy equipment support, the Ministry of Public Works also prepares flood control materials, such as gabions and geobags if needed by local governments (Pemda).
"Our team has been working in the field since the first day to help clean up and ensure the mobility of residents will soon recover," said Head of BBWS Cimanuk Cisanggarung Dwi Agus Kuncoro.
