Driven By Music Label, Spotify Will Increase Its Subscription Price Again In The US
JAKARTA Spotify plans to increase its subscription price for customers in the US. The plan comes after the company raised prices in several markets since August 2025.
Launching from the Financial Times, Spotify will raise prices in the US in the first quarter of next year. This plan was revealed by three sources familiar with the issue. If the US experiences price increases, other countries will follow.
This price increase is largely driven by the ongoing pressure from large record labels. The labels asked Apple and Spotify to increase the price of streaming music subscriptions.
The record label is dissatisfied because the cost of streaming music services does not increase in line with global inflation. According to these labels, the current subscription price is too low.

For record labels, the current subscription prices for Apple Music and Spotify are much lower when compared to the price of video streaming services such as Netflix. This price difference is often questioned by the music label.
Currently, Spotify Premium services in the US are priced at 11.99 US dollars (Rp. 199 thousand) per month. Meanwhile, its main competitor service, namely Apple Music, is priced at 10.99 US dollars (Rp. 183 thousand) per month.
If this plan is implemented, this will be Spotify's second time raising its subscription price on the US market in the last two years. There is no information yet whether Apple Music will follow Spotify's lead in increasing its subscription fees.
