Tenxi Claims As Creator Of The Hipdut Genre Are Only Limited To Making Public Attention

JAKARTA - Tenxi's statement regarding his claim to be a 'creator' of the hipdut genre of music that combines hip-hop and dangdut elements has been in the spotlight in the past week.

The claim was conveyed by Tenxi during the 2025 PMI Awards last week.

Initially, the standing Tenxi flanked by Jemsii and Naykilla, said that hipdut is a new genre of music.

"Maybe this is a new genre," said Tenxi.

He seemed a little hesitant when he wanted to say that he was the originator of the genre. But in the end, with high confidence, Tenxi made his claim.

"Yes, I just claim it, I made it," he said.

The claim is widely discussed on social media. The reason is, hipdut as a musical idea, has been known to the public for years, especially in duo from Yogyakarta, NDX AKA.

Shortly after the controversy over his claims, Tenxi tried to clarify his remarks on the AMI Awards stage. He argued that what was said was just seeking public attention.

"Yes, let people just talk about it. Yes, I grew up in Java, I know NDX AKA, I'm not stupid," said Tenxi in Kebon Jeruk, West Jakarta recently.

"Yes, I just made a statement, so that people can talk too. Engagement," he added.

Netizens' responses are still divided. Some think that 'Garam & Madu ( Chestache)' does bring a differentiator from the hipdut genre that was previously known to the public.

But on the other hand, netizens regret Tenxi's attitude which is considered too excessive, because he claims to be the creator of the hipdut genre.

"It's better to admit than admit," wrote one netizen.
