Tom Morello Reveals The Fate Of Audioslave Songs That Have Not Been Released
JAKARTA - Tom Morello has provided an update on the unprecedented status of musical material from Audioslave, the supergroup he formed with the late Soundgarden vocalist, Chris Cornell.
The group, which also consists of Morello's colleagues from Rage Against The Machine, Tom Commerford and Brad Wilma, was formed in 2001 and managed to release three studio albums before finally separating in 2007.
Morello and Cornell had reunited in a show in January 2017 at the Anti-Inaugural Ball', which was held on the day of Donald Trump's inauguration as US President. However, the brief reunion took place just four months before Cornell decided to end his life in May of the same year.
In 2019, Morello gave hints that there is material that has not been released from the Audioslave archive which amounts to one full album, and at that time he was sure all the music would be released one day.
However, after six years had passed, there was no further information regarding the status of these recordings.
Now, Morello is giving the latest news about these materials. He said the remaining Audioslave personnel did not have the right time to work on the material together.
"This is not because of no intention. Apart from the fact that we have not had time to finish it together, there are no plans not to release it," Morello said in a recent interview with SNSMix, quoted by NME, Monday, November 24.
"I would be very happy if it could be heard in the world, and hopefully one day it will happen."
Morello added that the material was not just a collection of the best remaining songs.
"Sometimes there's a situation like, someone likes this one, while the others don't match that one," he said. So, from each of the three Audioslave albums, we have the rest of the songs, some of which are really great.

This statement is in line with what Cornell's wife, Vicky, said in 2020. At that time, Vicky said that all material that had never been released from her deceased husband would see a bright light in the end.
"He lives in that way and his legacy continues," Vicky said. "So it's the most important thing for me, seeing how much people love him, miss him, respect him, and how much we really want his music out there. So everything will be released."
On the other hand, Soundgarden itself issued an update regarding their new music status featuring archive vocals from Cornell.
Soundgarden was working on an album when Cornell died, and now drummer Matt Cameron says they are close enough to finish the album and plan its release.
