Lamborghini Countach 25th Anniversary 1989 Auction, Offer Reaches IDR 6.3 Billion

JAKARTA - One unit of automotive masterpiece from the 80s has again stolen the attention. The 1989 European edition Lamborghini Countach 25th Anniversary is becoming the prima donna on the Bring a Trailer online auction exchange.

The highest offer until this news was written has reached US$380,000 (equivalent to Rp6.3 billion) with seven days remaining before the hammer was tapped.

Referring to its auction house page, Monday, November 24, the 25th Anniversary model comes as a marker of the 25th anniversary of Lamborghini's journey, with production of only about 658 units. Wrapped in an attractive Rosso Siviglia color, the car appears increasingly prominent thanks to a combination of designs from two world automotive big names: Marcello Gandini as the creator of the original Countach body line, as well as Horacio Pagani who made radical updates. The touch of Pagani is seen in carbon andEVillar panels, the water intake is cylindrized, to a revised front and rear fascia which emphasizes the aggressive and futuristic character. The whole display is combined with an elegant Panna interior (krem), decorated with red stitches on a sport arm made of leather.

Behind its spectacular appearance, this Countach brings pure performance typical of the Lamborghini V12 engine. A 5.2-liter V12 quad-cam unit made by Bizzarrini with six Weber carbourizers 44 DCNF downdrafts supply up to 448 hp and 369 lb-ft torques, an extraordinary number for its era. All of that was channeled through manual transmission of five dodogleg-paced accelerations with a gated shifter, a combination that was targeted by the puritants because of its irreplaceable mechanical sensation.

Units with the chassis number KLA12728 also appear tempting in terms of conditions. The distance is fairly low, only 19,000 kilometers, and a series of large treatments have been carried out since 2023 by Curated Restoration & Service in Miami, Florida, for a total cost of more than US$60,000. Starting from the repair carburater, replacement of valve cover feed, hose, busi, to cooling system in 2023, followed by thorough brake system repairs in the same year. Then in 2024, the compressor AC, engine mount, and the coupling plate were replaced to ensure its performance remains prime. The clean Carfax report further strengthens that this car has been fully cared for.
