Kahiyang Ayu Encourages North Sumatra To Become A National Fashion And Beauty Creativity Center

Chairman of the Regional National Crafts Council (Dekranasda) of North Sumatra (North Sumatra), Kahiyang Ayu, provides full support for the implementation of North Sumatra Fashion Beauty 2025, an event that is a gathering room for fashion, beauty, and creative industries in the North Sumatra region.

"The 2025 Fashion Beauty community is a forum for local designers, MSMEs, and the creative community to present their best work," said Kahiyang after attending the closing of the event at the North Sumatra State Museum, Sunday.

Kahiyang hopes that this event can encourage the improvement of the quality of local products as well as expand market access, especially for female business actors. He also appreciated the organizers for opening up space for the growth of regional creative talents.

According to him, collaboration between the government, industry players, and MSMEs is needed to strengthen the competitiveness of local products. Through this event, the potential for North Sumatra wastra can be introduced more broadly, not only at the national level but also internationally," said the wife of the North Sumatra Governor Bobby Nasution.

Meanwhile, the Head of the North Sumatra Provincial Culture and Tourism Office, Yudha Pratiwi Setiawan, explained that North Sumatra Fashion Beauty 2025 presented 30 professional models and nine local designers, namely Junot Hutabarat, Risma Marpaung, Yossi Soselisa, Sevira, Khairunnisya, Irma Siregar, Rani Revi, Zul Said, and Eko Tjandra.

This event not only featured fashion shows, but also various other activities such as multi-ethnic exhibitions, fashion and beauty bazaars, as well as modeling competitions, make-up artists, and fashion designers.

Yudha added that this event became the initial promotional space for Fashion Week 2026 and opened up greater opportunities for North Sumatra designers and MSMEs to appear on the national stage. We will send the winners of the competition to Jakarta. This is the first time the selection of the icon of Indonesia Fashion Week has been held outside Jakarta, and Medan is the opening city," he said.
