The Government Does Not Visit The Subsidy Of Electric Motorcycles, This Is What Polytron Says

JAKARTA - The government's electric motorcycle subsidy program has not come to light until the end of the year. Many two-wheeled producers of the seterum hope that subsidies will be held again in order to boost sales.

Polytron as a local electric motorcycle manufacturer, said that subsidies can also help the ecosystem of environmentally friendly vehicles in the country. This was conveyed by the Head of Group Product EV 2W Polytron Ilman Fachrian Fadly.

"If asked whether it is necessary, it is necessary (subsidies from the government). But we are only moving based on the current regulations. Yes, that's all we are paying attention to," Ilman told reporters at the launch of Fox 350 in Jakarta, some time ago.

The electric motor subsidy has not been continued since the process of changing the President of the Republic of Indonesia from Joko Widodo to Prabowo Subianto. This means that for almost a year, local producers have sold their products at normal prices.

Previously, the Minister of Industry, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, said that his party had submitted a subsidy program for purchasing electric motorcycles next year. Agus said the proposal had been submitted since early 2025.

But until now there has been no certainty because the decision is at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs.

"So when it comes to electric motorcycles that we consider important, prepare incentives or stimulus. Because there are a few people who have rewards and power links, that's important for us. Therefore, we propose. For 2026 it will be re-submitted. But once again, the ball is not in us," said Agus.

The initial promise itself, subsidies will be given in September 2025, but have not been realized. As a result, many consumers have postponed the purchase of electric motors, although there are several manufacturers who provide their own subsidies, such as Polytron.

According to data from the Indonesian Electric Motorcycle Industry Association (Aismoli), in the first quarter of 2025, sales of electric motorcycles fell by 30-40 percent. This means that sales of electric motorcycles are very dependent on assistance from the government because currently the purchase price of electric motorcycles is still considered expensive.
