Organic Waste Becomes Valuable, BLDF Efforts To Change Problems To Benefits
Currently, the facility is capable of processing about 50 tons of waste every day, close to 10% of the total daily waste of Kudus Regency.
In the RPJMD of Kudus Regency 2018 2023, the daily amount of waste was recorded at around 552 cubic meters or 445.9 tons, with approximately 60% of organic waste such as food residue, branches, and leaves.
"Our focus in Kudus is on taking care of organic waste, because the amount is the most and it is most likely to be reprocessed into fertilizer," said Deputy Program Manager of BLDF, Prinsa Paruna, when met in Kudus, Central Java on Thursday, November 20, 2025.
The raw materials for this sorting process are collected from around 370 partners, ranging from restaurants, traditional markets, villages, hotels, companies, to various community groups.
All of the organic waste is then converted into fertilizer which supports various BLDF environmental activities.

PPO also does not run alone. This facility is connected to the Plant Breeding Center (PPT), where thousands of seeds are planted and treated every day until they are ready to be moved to the field.
"When we talk about seeds, we certainly need fertilizer. So our organic waste processing automatically supports nursery activities and reforestation programs," said Prinsa.
These seeds and fertilizers are the main capital for various BLDF reforestation movements, including the trambesi planting program along the Pantura Java route which is one of the first steps for large reforestation on the island of Java.
