Fatah Leader Marwan Barghouti's Wife Asks President Trump To Free Her Husband From Israeli Prison
JAKARTA - Fadwa, wife of the leader of the Fatah group, Palestine, Marwan Barghouti (66) again expressed hope of his husband's release from Israeli prison to United States President Donald Trump.
"I really hope President Trump will press for Marwan's release, as he represents a peaceful and stable future," Fadwa Barghouti told The Times of Israel, as quoted November 21.
"His support for the Palestinian self-defense against Israeli occupation does not go against his main desire to coexist," he continued.
She further explained that despite everything Marwan had gone through, her husband's commitment to the Two-State Solution based on the pre-1967 border "never wavered."
Fadwa also said her husband "kicked the two-state solution as a way to progress and live a peaceful life."
"He still envisions peace on this land and a better life for everyone there," he said.
Meanwhile, when The Times of Isael asked an official Israeli government spokesman about the possible release of Barghouti, he only answered that he was "a convicted murderer and terrorist."
It is known that Marwan Barghouthi, who was born in 1959, is a member of the Central Committee for the Palestinian National Liberation Movement Fatah.
Quoted from WAFA, he was detained by Israeli occupation authorities during Second Intifada in 2002 and was later sentenced to five life imprisonment.

His name did not appear on the list of about 2,000 Palestinian prisoners released last month in exchange for 20 Israeli hostages as part of the Gaza ceasefire and a prisoner swap agreement.
Barghouti was previously one of the leading participants in Oslo's peace process and remains a unifying figure for many Palestinians.
