Indonesia Rally Team Will Appear In Australia

JAKARTA Indonesia Rally Team (IRT) is certain to take part in the Shannon's Adelaide Rally 2025 event which will be held on November 21-23, 2025 at Adelaide Hills, Australia.

This marks Indonesia's return to an international rally after nearly three decades of absence from world and regional rally championships. Shannon's Adelaide Rally is known as the largest asphalt track rally in the Asia-Pacific region and even the world.

Indonesia has dropped with a mixed formation between young and experienced pereli, which is led directly by senior Pereli Rifat Sungkar.

Rifat said that the Indonesia Rally Team came with a realistic target, namely fighting, learning, and bringing home an experience that would be the foundation for the revival of the Indonesian religious.

"We want to bring Indonesia's name back to the international rally arena. That's the most important thing," said Rifat in a statement received.

Rifat will fall in the Rally Pro category in its first participation in Adelaide Rally. It is the highest category featuring international specification rally cars.

Apart from Rifat, Indonesia Rally Team also fielded Ryan Nirwan who was accompanied by co-drivers Garindra Kusuma and Moreno Dzaky Nasution with co-driver Reeve Akbar, a new generation of researchers projected to be the backbone of the future of national motorsports.

Moreno dan Reeve merupakan bagian dari program strategis untuk memperkuat ekosistem olahraga otomotif Indonesia, mulai dari pereli, mechanikan, hingga manajemen tim.

Unfortunately, Rifat was not accompanied by his flagship co-driver Muhammad Redwan. Instead, he was accompanied by Brad Jones, the Kanguru Country Chancellor who won the 2025 Australian navigator in the Production Car class.

IRT arrived at Adelaide on November 16, 2025 and immediately conducted a report or survey of a total of 30 Special Stages (SS) with an overall distance of about 150 kilometers.

Most of the SS are in mountainous areas, the rest taking place on urban highways. This variation makes Adelaide Rally have unique dynamics and requires high concentration and adaptation of each participant.

"The completion is very challenging and has different characters. Many SSs are located in the mountainous region of Adelaide Hills which is famous for its combination of fast and narrow bends, but there are also SSs who use large highways to urban areas," said Rifat.

A total of more than 500 pereli attended Adelaide Rally 2025, including rally big names such as Allister McRae, Hayden Paddon, and defending champion Adelaide Rally 2024, Alex Rullo.

This makes the event have a very high level of competition, especially for the Competition category. On the other hand, it became a very important event for Nirwan and Moreno to make their debuts at the international rally.

"Surely both of them will try their best to be competitive and learn as much as possible from this experience," said Rifat.
