Nova Arianto Appointed As Indonesia U-20 Coach: An Extraordinary Opportunity To Give The Best

JAKARTA - Nova Arianto has been officially appointed by PSSI as the coach of the U-20 Indonesian national team. With his new status and responsibility, he is determined to give his best for his squad.

PSSI's decision to appoint Nova Arianto as the coach of the U-20 Indonesian national team was announced on Thursday, November 20, 2025, afternoon WIB. Previously, he led the U-17 Indonesian national team which appeared in the 2025 U-17 World Cup.

With his new responsibilities, Nova is grateful for the trust given to him. He also said he would give the best for his team.

"Thank you PSSI and his staff for the opportunity for a job that is certainly very extraordinary in my career."

"I can only thank PSSI and will certainly try my best for the U-20 Indonesian national team," Nova said at a press conference session at GBK Arena, Jakarta, Thursday, November 20, 2025.

Nova Arianto was promoted to the U-20 Indonesian national team after being counted successful with the U-17 Indonesian national team. He helped the Garuda Asia Team qualify for the 2025 U-17 World Cup and made history in winning their first victory in the tournament.

Nova also hopes to help the U-20 Indonesian national team achieve the results expected under his care.

"Travel will not be easy and hopefully we can give the best. We will make a roadmap because September (2026) the U-20 Indonesian national team will participate in the 2027 U-20 Asian Cup Qualification to match the program," he said.

Previously, the Head of the National Team Agency (BTN), Sumardji, stated that PSSI had appointed Nova Arianto to lead Garuda Muda. The decision was taken by PSSI based on a recommendation from PSSI Technical Director, Alexander Zwiers.

"Especially for the men's Indonesian National Team, according to recommendations, in accordance with the proposal from the Director of PSSI, Alexander (Zwiers), Exco's colleagues agree that we will give the men's U-20 Indonesian national team coach a complete task and responsibility to Nova Arianto," said Sumardji on the same occasion.
