Purbaya Says 8 Percent Economic Growth Is Not Enough To Make Indonesia An Advanced Country
JAKARTA - Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Purbaya Yudhi Sadive said, Indonesia needs to create double-digit growth to become a developed country.
According to Purbaya, many parties doubted when President Prabowo Subianto targeted economic growth of 8 percent. However, according to him, this is a good but not enough step.
"But if we become developed countries, that's less than 8 percent. We create double-digit economic growth for more than 10 years, then we hope to become developed countries," said Purbaya at the Bloomberg Technoz Ecoverse 2025, Thursday, November 20.
Purbaya said that the target launched by Prabowo was inspired by the teachings of Sumitranomic. Just so you know, Sumitro Djojohadikusumo is Prabowo's father.

I think he (Prabowo) was inspired by the teachings of Soemitronomimics, his own father. His father is a smart person, a champion economist," he continued.
In the Summit, Purbaya said that there are three pillars in economic growth, including high economic growth, equitable development benefits, and national stability.
According to him, these three pillars have been implemented in Prabowo's priority programs such as Free Nutrition Food (MBG), Village Cooperatives/Red and Public Schools.
"So MBG is clear, right, equitable development down. Then because people are happy, yes, socio-political stability is approximately maintained," said Purbaya.
