FWK Urges The Government To Execute The Constitutional Court's Decision On Active Police
The National Journalists Forum (FWK) urges the government to immediately execute the Constitutional Court Decision (MK) which prohibits members of the National Police from actively holding positions outside the police institution.
This attitude surfaced in the FWK Reboan Discussion in Jakarta, Wednesday, November 19.
Previously, the Constitutional Court issued Decision Number 114/PUU-XXIII/2025 which required every active police officer who held civilian office to resign or retire. This decision was read out in a plenary session on November 13, 2025.
The issue of implementing the decision has become a hot topic of conversation because there is no clarity on the mechanism and timing of its implementation. The police themselves have not responded to the Constitutional Court's decision. However, the National Police Chief, as stated by the Head of the Public Relations Division, Inspector General Sandi Nugroho, has formed a Working Group to review the Constitutional Court's decision.
The FWK management, Hendry Ch Bangun, assessed that this step by the Constitutional Court was important to restore public trust in the Police.
"We support the Constitutional Court's decision and urge them to immediately find a way out of its realization. The Constitutional Court must work without interference from any party," said Hendry in a discussion that took place in an atmosphere "sert" or "serious but relaxed.
Hendry emphasized that if this rule is carried out fully, the National Police can return to focus on core tasks without overlapping roles with civil administrative positions.
FWK Coordinator, King of Parlindungan Pane, also assessed that the acceleration of the implementation of the Constitutional Court's decision was a big hope for people who were waiting for the National Police reform to be realized immediately. However, according to him, technically the matter of whether the police have to resign or retire is still a matter of debate.
"It looks like the road is still long," said Raja.

From the government side, the Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration and Corrections, Yusril Ihza Mahendra, said the Constitutional Court's decision would be an input for the Commission for the Acceleration of Police Reform.
He emphasized the need for regulatory changes and a transitional period for active police who are currently still on duty at ministries or institutions outside the National Police.
The chairman of the National Police Reform Acceleration Commission, Jimly Asshidiqie, said that only two options have emerged so far: attract all active personnel to return to the National Police or provide early retirement. "What is clear is that the Constitutional Court's decision must be implemented," he said.
The discussion on the FWK Reboan which lasted until the evening also discussed the development of the issue of Polri reform and various public dynamics related to the Constitutional Court's decision.
