Police Receive Highest Public Approval, Reforms Seen as Progressing Positively

JAKARTA - Indonesian Political Houses (RPI) released the results of a national survey showing the National Police occupying the top position as a law enforcement agency (LPH) with the best performance according to the public. The survey release was submitted by the Director of RPI, Fernando Emas, in Jakarta, Wednesday 19 November.

In the survey, the National Police achieved 20.5 percent of the positive assessment, only slightly at odds with the Attorney General's Office which received 19.9 percent. Below it followed the Supreme Court (18.5 percent), the Judicial Commission (16.5 percent), the KPK (12.9 percent), and the Constitutional Court (9.5 percent). As many as 2.2 percent of respondents did not answer.

The majority of the people also expressed satisfaction with the performance of the Police. RPI noted that 75.7 percent of respondents said they were satisfied, 2.4 percent were dissatisfied, 15.7 percent were neutral, and 2.1 percent did not answer.

Fernando explained, when RPI explored the reasons behind the public's positive assessment, the highest answer was related to the reach and structure of the National Police organization which was considered broad and effective (19.3 percent).

Another reason that is also dominant is the modernization of technology (1.1 percent), collaboration between institutions (14.5 percent), improving the quality of human resources (11.9 percent), rapid response to crime (11.2 percent), and the advancement of bureaucratic reform and public services (9.8 percent). The public also appreciates the success of the Police in uncovering large cases (9.1 percent).

Fernando assessed that the findings of this survey show that the public still has high hopes for the legal reform agenda, including reforms within the National Police itself. He emphasized that the work of transforming the National Police under the National Police Chief Listyo Sigit Prabowo was running in line with the agenda of the Reform Committee formed by President Prabowo Subianto.

"There is no resistance or duality. The National Police is open to public demands and maintains commitment to internal reform. This is a step that should be appreciated," he said.

The RPI survey was conducted on November 9, 2025, against 1,280 respondents from 38 provinces. Sampling uses the multistage random sampling method with a margin of error of 2.8 percent at a 95 percent confidence level.
