BMKG: Farfer FINA Cyclone Position, NTT Residents Don't Need To Panic
KUPANG - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) of the El Tari Kupang Meteorological Station stated that the seeds of tropical cyclone 97S which have developed into Tropical Cyclone FINA did not have a significant impact on the East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) region.
"The impact is not too significant because the position of Tropical Cyclone FINA is very far from the NTT region," said Head of BMKG El Tari Kupang Meteorological Station Sti Nenotek in Kupang, Antara, Wednesday, November 19.
He explained, although far away, the cyclone still has the potential to cause light to moderate rain accompanied by lightning, lightning, strong winds of short duration, and high waves in several areas of NTT.
"The rain that is happening is the indirect impact of Tropical Cyclone FINA because there are wind bends in the NTT region," he said.
According to Sti, the direct impact of cyclones is only felt at a radius of 150200 kilometers from the center of the FINA Cyclone so that the NTT region is not in the zone.
He appealed to the public not to panic and continue to monitor official information from the BMKG.
