Puan Maharani Says Adies Kadir Is Active Again As Deputy Speaker Of The DPR

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, stated that Adies Kadir has returned to being active as deputy chairman of the DPR, according to the decision of the Honorary Court of the Council (MKD).

Puan emphasized that the MKD had decided that Adies Kadir did not violate ethics, only being reminded to be careful in behaving and speaking in public.

"Because the decision from the MKD states that the person concerned can indeed be active again with the provisions stating that he must be more careful in his attitude, then not to repeat it again. So, yes, it can be reactivated," said Puan at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, November 18.

According to Puan, the active Adies Kadir as the leader of the DPR no longer needs to be officially announced to the public. Puan said Adies Kadir had been active as usual.

"There is no need for an announcement. And now there may be other activities," said Puan.

Previously, the Honorary Council of the Council (MKD) decided to reactivate Adies Kadir as a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives.

In the verdict hearing held on Wednesday, November 5, MKD assessed that Adies Kadir did not violate the code of ethics.

The trial, chaired by the Chief Justice of the MKD Nazaruddin Dek Gam, also decided on a case involving four other inactive members of the DPR apart from Adies Kadir. The four are Nafa Urbach, Surya Utama, Eko Hendro Purnomo, and Ahmad Sahroni.

"Declaring that the defendant I Adies Kadir is not proven to have violated the code of ethics," said Deputy Chairman of the MKD DPR Adang Daradjatun reading the verdict.

Adang Daradjatun asked Adies to be more careful in conveying information. MKD also stated that Adies could be active again since the verdict was read.

"Ask the defendant I adies Kadir to be careful in conveying information and maintaining future behavior," he said.

"Declaring that the defendant I Adies Kadir has been activated as a member of the DPR, starting from the time this decision was read out," he continued.
