BPBD Adds Flood Detection Tool In Lengkiti OKU South Sumatra, Can Be Monitored From Site

OKU - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) added one unit of flood detection equipment installed in the Ogan River, Lengkiti District, Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU) Regency, South Sumatra (Sumsel).

"After Pengandonan and Ulu Ogan sub-districts, now the Level Gauge tool has been installed again in the waters of the Lengkiti area," said Head of BPBD OKU Januar Efendi through the Manager of Pusdalops Gunalfi in Baturaja, Monday, as reported by Antara.

He said the equipment was installed in the waters of the Ogan River, precisely in Sukaraja Village. Installation of the Level Gauge tool is carried out to detect potential flood disasters due to the overflow of the Ogan River.

The Gage Level was installed directly by BPBD OKU together with a team from the Indonesian National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) above the river water level with a height of about 25 meters.

He explained that Level Gauge is a tool used to optimize river discharge monitoring so that the potential for flood disasters can be overcome as early as possible.

The Gauge Level has almost the same function as the Automatic Water Level Recorder (AWLR), which is a tool used to measure water levels automatically and efficiently.

This tool has several advantages including an observed height resolution of up to one mm and the resulting data is easy to read and very detailed and accurate.

Januar added that flood disaster alarms after the installation of this tool can also be monitored via a website or website. However, Januar did not explain the address of the site.

"When there is a threat level, an alarm will arise where it is not only the admin who can see potential threats, but the web vistor can see it, so that people can also take quick action as an effort to overcome it," he said.
