32 countries have secured their tickets to the 2026 World Cup finals.
JAKARTA - The list of countries that have qualified for the 2026 World Cup has reached 32 teams after two European nations recently secured their places in the final round.
Portugal secured the 31st qualifying spot for the 2026 World Cup. A 9-1 victory over Armenia secured the Seleção das Quinas as winners of Group F of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers.
Norway also secured the 32nd spot. Erling Haaland and his teammates defeated Italy 4-1 in their final match, cementing their position as leaders of Group I.
By winning their groups, Portugal and Norway join 30 other countries that have already secured their places at the 23rd World Cup, which will be held in Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
In the European zone, England, France, and Croatia have already secured their places in the main round.
There are 11 remaining spots for European countries: seven direct tickets for the remaining group winners and four through the playoffs.
In addition to the five European nations, eight Asian nations, nine African nations, six South American nations, one Oceanian nation, and three host nations have already secured their places at the 2026 World Cup.
Canada, Mexico, and the United States, as hosts, have all secured their spots. Meanwhile, the first nation to qualify through the qualifying process will be Japan on March 20, 2025.
With 32 teams qualified, there are 16 remaining spots up for grabs. Eleven spots are up for grabs from UEFA, three are up for grabs from CONCACAF, and two are through intercontinental playoffs.
