Ministry Of Industry Collaborates With US And Swedish Companies To Accelerate AI Implementation In Industry

The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) is pushing for the acceleration of digital transformation in the manufacturing sector by cooperating with global companies from the United States (US) and Sweden.

Through the Indonesian Digital Industry Center (PIDI 4.0), the Ministry of Industry involved multinational companies in the Swedish telecommunications sector, Ericsson, and technology company from the US, Qualcomm, then the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi).

The collaboration targets the implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) and 5G more massively in the national industry through the implementation of the 2025 Hackathon with the theme "Indonesia's NextGen Digital Sprint with 5G and AI".

PIDI 4.0 is under the auspices of the Industrial Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDMI) as the gateway to transformation for the national industry.

Not only that, but the Ministry of Industry is also developing the Indonesia Industry 4.0 Readiness Index (INDI 4.0) as a standard for measuring industrial digital readiness. The index aims to support the acceleration of industrial digitization.

Minister of Industry (Menperin), Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, said cross-sectoral collaboration is the key to the success of industrial transformation 4.0.

"The success of the implementation of industry 4.0 does not only depend on technology, but also on the readiness of human resources and the maturity of the business process," Agus said in a written statement, Saturday, November 15, 2025.

The 2025 Hackathon event involved young talents, startups, and developers to create 5G technology-based prototypes and artificial intelligence (AI). The series of activities began on September 18 until they reached the final round of 12-13 November 2025.

Head of the Industrial Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDMI), Doddy Rahadi, said that Indonesia needs human resources (HR) that are not only capable of using technology, but also creating them.

"Hackathon is in line with the direction of national industrial development in Making Indonesia 4.0 and Indonesia's vision to become the top 10 of the 2030 world economy. The key is the transformation of technology, strengthening innovation, and digitizing manufacturing," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Industrial Human Resources Education and Training Center, Sidik Herman, added that the industry is now increasingly optimistic about improving business processes and opportunities for digital innovation.

"Hackathon is not just a competition, but an innovation laboratory that brings together creativity, technology, and real challenges to the industry."

"Our focus on generative AI, 5G, IoT, robotics, and edge computing provides space for Indonesian talents to answer industrial pain points," he said.

This year, the challenges raised come from the automotive sector, medical devices, and food and beverages. Thus, the solutions developed are not only innovative, but are also relevant and can be applied directly to industrial processes.

The Ministry of Industry is optimistic that the spirit of collaboration of the 2025 Hackathon participants will be an important foundation for strengthening the national innovation ecosystem, as well as encouraging the birth of strong, efficient, and global competitive future industrial solutions.
