Viral Video Bully In Blora, Police Check 37 Students And 4 Teachers
The number of students examined by the police regarding cases of bullying in one of the junior high schools (SMP) in Blora Regency, Central Java, increased along with the deepening of the investigation.
Head of the Blora Police Criminal Investigation Unit, AKP Zaenul Arifin, said the investigation was carried out to clarify the chronology and role of each party in the incident that went viral on social media.
"It's true, we have asked for information from several teachers and school staff to clarify the chronology and roles of each at the time of the incident. This step is part of the investigation process," said Zaenul in Blora, Antara, Thursday, November 13.
The examination began on Monday, November 10 by asking for information from the victim. On Tuesday, 37 students who appeared in the video were also questioned.
The next day, investigators examined four teachers and a number of schools from grades VII, VIII, and IX at the Women and Children Service Unit (PPA) of the Blora Police.
Previously, the number of students examined was 33 people. The increase in the number was carried out to investigate allegations of negligence in supervision by the school when bullying occurred.
The 25-second video showing violence in the school bathroom was widely circulated on paid applications and raised public concerns.
"We are still gathering information. If later it is found that there was negligence that caused this incident to occur, of course we will follow up according to the applicable law," said Zaenul.
In addition to teachers and students, the police also examined the parents of each student involved to ensure the psychological condition and background of the children's behavior.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Blora Regency Social Service, Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (Dinsos P3A), Luluk Kusuma Agung Ariadi, said that his party had assigned a psychologist companion to help the mental recovery of victims and perpetrators.
We have scheduled psychological support, both for victims and perpetrators. We continue to monitor so that trauma or similar behavior does not appear in the future," he said.
From the school, the principal of the junior high school where the incident took place, expressing regret and commitment to strengthening character development and supervision of students.
We are very concerned and sorry for this incident. We immediately coordinated with parents, the police, and related agencies. In the future, we will tighten supervision and guidance on students," he said.
The four students involved have been transferred to other schools. Two of them are suspected of being provocateurs, one as video recorders, and the other is the main actor. They consist of two class VII students and two class IX students, while the victim is a grade VIII student.
The bullying incident occurred on Friday (8/11) during a break in the school environment.
