In terms of efficiency, Mercedes-Benz embeds a state-of-the-art heat pump system that utilizes charging heat from electric, battery, and surrounding air propulsion. This technology allows cabin defrost systems to clean frozen windshields in just 15 minutes at a temperature of minus 15 degrees Celsius.
In addition, the cabin can be heated twice as fast as the previous model, with 50 percent lower energy consumption while traveling 20 minutes at minus 7 degrees Celsius. In the technology section, the latest GLB will be equipped with an MBUX-based fourth generation MB.OS system which is now integrated with Google Maps navigation and smart virtual assistants.
In the safety sector, this SUV is equipped with a DISTRONIC system with automatic distance settings that are now standard in the European market. The technology is supported by eight cameras, five radars, and 12 ultrasonic sensors to increase accuracy in monitoring the surrounding environment of the vehicle.
Mercedes-Benz' move to carry out this extreme test demonstrates the German manufacturer's commitment to ensuring that the new generation of GLBs are ready to face various road conditions and extreme weather in the world, although there are no specifications yet.
