BRIN And NAIST Establish Cooperation, Lestarikan Bahasa Dengan AI
JAKARTA The National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) announced its latest collaboration with the Japanese Nara Institute of Science and Technology (NAIST). This agreement focuses on Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Through this collaboration, BRIN wants to strengthen AI development in the country, especially those that are ethical and inclusive. As a follow-up to this partnership, the two institutions violated special events.
The event was held at BRIN's office on November 10, 2025 with the theme Timeless Human 'AI Communication: Preserving Human Stories in the Age of AI. This marks a major leap in collaboration in the field of AI, particularly in language conservation.
Head of the BRIN Archaeological, Language and Literature Research Organization, Herry Yogaswara, emphasized the importance of this collaboration. According to him, cross-field cooperation in developing research and implementing AI is very important.
Meanwhile, during meeting with BRIN, NAIST discussed how AI could be used for language preservation. Sakti Sakti, Head of Human 'AI Interaction Laboratory NAIST, expressed interest in collaborating with language researchers in Indonesia.

This interest is based on the large number of languages owned by Indonesia, which is 10 percent of the total language in the world. With this amount, Sakti underlined the importance of preserving language in the midst of rapid advances in modern technology.
"Language is not only a means of communication, but also identity and cultural knowledge," said Sakti. He emphasized that if an extinct language, part of the legacy of human knowledge would also be lost.
With this collaboration, BRIN is expected to strengthen its role in language research supported by cutting-edge technology. This is also a contribution in efforts to preserve the language and development of AI ethically.
