Industrial Competitiveness Called Down, DPR Summons The Directorate General Of Agro Industry Of The Ministry Of Industry To A Number Of Associations

Commission VII DPR RI summoned the Directorate General of Agro Industry, Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) and a number of associations under their auspices.

This was done in order to discuss increasing the competitiveness of the national industry.

A number of associations were present, including the Indonesian Pulp and Paper Association; Association of Indonesian Rubber Companies; Indonesian Atsiri Council (DAI); Association of Indonesian Food and Beverage Producers; and the Association of Indonesian Vegetable Oil Industry.

Next, there is the Indonesian Fishery Product Processing and Marketing Entrepreneurs Association; Indonesian Palm Oil House; Light Drink Industry Association; Indonesian Coffee Exporters and Industry Association; and the Association of Indonesian Cigarette Factory Unions.

Deputy Chairman of Commission VII DPR RI Evita Nursanty said the Hearing Meeting (RDP) held today was held to find solutions to existing problems.

Moreover, he said, the national industry is currently being invaded by imported products that suppress the performance of the industry itself.

"We know that now it is being invaded with imported products whose prices are difficult. Maybe some associations from business actors have not experienced any impact, but from entrepreneurs we have met with industry players have a lot of impact," said Evita at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, November 11.

"In this case, yes, raw materials are high with the invasion of imported products, not to mention official imports, illegal imports. Well, we want to hear about these existing problems," he continued.

In addition, said Evita, RDP today was also carried out to respond quickly to the competitiveness conditions of the national industry.

Evita explained, based on the latest data, the domestic industry shows a worrying downward trend. Including, Indonesia's ranking has dropped dramatically based on the IMD World Competitiveness Ranking.

"Commission VII of the DPR RI wants to ensure that the agro sector does not only function as a producer rather than a commodity, but is transformed into an efficient, innovative processing industry and is able to dominate the global value chain," he concluded.
