JAKARTA - Indonesia is ready to support the development of the Islamic Center in Croatia, said Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono, calling it a form of tolerance in diversity.
Speaking in a press statement with Croatian Foreign Minister Gordan Grlic Radman, Foreign Minister Sugiono assessed that the development plan reflects the increasingly close Muslim relations in Indonesia with Croatia. Foreign Minister Radman also mentioned the plan to build an Islamic Center.
Croatia is planning to build the Islamic Center Istiqlal Osijek (ICO), including a mosque, in Osijek, Slavonia. This city is one of the centers of the country's economy and cultural centers.
"We are participating," said Foreign Minister Sugiono, Monday, November 10.
"I haven't seen the details in detail, but it seems like a complex. They hope it can be continued because of the form of one example of tolerance in diversity," continued the Indonesian Foreign Minister
"I don't know yet, maybe," replied the Indonesian Foreign Minister when asked if it would be like in Bosnia.
Previously, the Istiqlal Mosque in Sarajevo, Bosnia, Herzegovina, which became a symbol of solidarity as well as affirmation of Indonesia's existence in the Balkan Area was inaugurated in 2002.
Last July, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia Anis Matta visited the ICO construction site. The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in its statement said that the ICO development is a tangible manifestation of Indonesia's commitment to spreading moderate, peaceful, and inclusive Islamic values, while strengthening Indonesia's position as the main reference for the Muslim community in Croatia and the Balkan region.
