Hasto: Hero Titles Should Be Given Because Of Services, Not Political Decisions
The Secretary General of the PDI-P (PDIP) Hasto Kristiyanto said that the title of hero for someone should not be given because of political decisions. His services for the people and the state should be prioritized.
This was conveyed by Hasto during a pilgrimage to the graves of Bung Tomo, Wonokromo, Surabaya, East Java, Monday, November 10. He went there with the Mayor of Surabaya Eri Cahyadi and other PDIP cadres.
"Foreigners are born not from a political decision, but from a hero who fights for the interests of the people, nation and state," said Hasto as quoted from his written statement, Monday, November 10.
Hasto said a hero should sacrifice for the people and have moral integrity that can be imitated. A hero who never hurts his own people, a hero who never expects all forms of praise and honor," he stressed.
On that occasion, Hasto had time to remember the motto 'merdeka or death' conveyed by Bung Tomo. This spirit was said to make young people in Surabaya or Suroboyo arek-arek not afraid to fight the invaders.
"That's why, an extraordinary accumulation of struggles, which began with Hotel Yamato, bravely tore the blue color to fly the Red and White, our national flag. That is the spirit for red and white to fly in every corner of Indonesia as a sign of our sovereignty," said Hasto.
He also invited all PDIP Surabaya cadres to respect those who fight without thinking about a title.
"They fight with confidence, because with their sacrifices, an independent, sovereign, and truly achieving the ideals of independence can be realized," he explained.

"We also pray for Mr. Wage Rudolf Supratman, to remember how the ideals in the song Indonesia Raya must be realized together," concluded Hasto.
