Borobudur Temple Up Quota Becomes 4,000 Tourists Per Day

The quota for people climbing the construction of Borobudur Temple in Magelang Regency, Central Java, is now being increased from 1,200 tourists to 4,000 tourists per day.

"Alhamdulillah, yesterday I was facilitated by Mr. Fadli Zon (Minister of Culture), I asked for an increase in quotas and was given 4,000 tourists and only running in November 2025," said Magelang Grengseng Regent Pamuji in Magelang, Friday.

He conveyed the increase in the quota when receiving a visit from Commission VII DPR at the Village Economic Center (Ballondes) Wanurejo, Borobudur District, Magelang Regency.

"When 1,200 were set a few years ago, it was enough to hit us. We at hawkers who gathered at the Art Market alone amounted to more than 2,000," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, November 7.

According to him, if all 1,200 people are shopping, there are still more than 1,000 traders who have not been involved.

"This is a challenge for us," he said.

He said Magelang Regency with all its strengths and disadvantages, for the support from the Central Government, every village in Borobudur District has a Balkondes.

"One of them is what we occupy, the Wanurejo Village Economic Center (Ballondes), whose construction was first through the CSR BUMN (social responsibility funds from State-Owned Enterprises)," he said.

However, he said, there were several villages whose Balkondes died today, namely in Sambeng Village, Acquaintance, and Bigaran.
