Explosion At SMAN 72 Jakarta, Commission III Of The DPR Urges The Government To Increase Alert Ahead Of Christmas-New Year

Member of Commission III of the House of Representatives Nasir Djamil appealed to the government and law enforcement officials (APH) to increase vigilance and security ahead of the 2026 Christmas and New Year celebrations.

This appeal was conveyed by Nasir Djamil in response to the explosion that occurred at the SMA Negeri 72 Mosque in Jakarta, West Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta.

Nasir assessed that the terror act of the explosion at this school was a warning to the government, especially law enforcement officials, to anticipate acts of terror that wanted to disrupt domestic security on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.

"On the one hand, we admit that this act of terror makes us seem like a mistake. But on the other hand, it is also a kind of warning to the state, to be aware of terrorist networks or criminal groups that allegedly want to disrupt domestic security ahead of Christmas and the new year," Nasir told VOI, Friday, November 7th.

The PKS legislator from the Aceh electoral district also suspects that there are parties who deliberately want to play with fire and pit between religious communities.

Moreover, according to him, there have been no cases of explosions that have occurred in the school environment, except at SMAN 72 Kelapa Gading.

"It is reasonable to suspect that there seem to be parties who want to play with fire and pit between religious believers in the explosion case at the high school," said Nasir.

"In my memory, there have never been any cases of explosions in the school complex mosque, except at SMAN 72," he continued.

Nasir also asked the government and law enforcement officials through the National Police Anti-terror Detachment 88 to immediately investigate the mastermind behind the explosion incident. He also asked the authorities to explain the motive for the witness.

"We ask that there be an official explanation from the government regarding who and what is the motivation of the perpetrators to carry out these acts of terror. Is he part of a terrorist network or 'her own weapon'," said Nasir.

According to the member of the commission in charge of the law, the explanation of the authorities is very important for the public to know in order to cause calm.

"Especially for school students who are traumatized after the incident," he concluded.
