More Than 200 Flights At India's Delhi Airport Delayed, Here's The Biang Keladi

JAKARTA - More than 200 flights have been delayed at Delhi airport, one of the busiest airports in the world, after the air traffic control system experienced technical problems.

Perturbations that cause delays in the departure of dozens of flights for more than 30 minutes can have a broad impact and cause congestion at other airports in the country.

IndiGo shares fell 1.5% after the airline declared its flight operations affected. SpiceJet and Air India also warned of delays.

Indian Airport Authority said technical problems with the Automated Message Transfer System (AIM), which is used to generate flight plans, forced controllers to develop it manually, resulting in delays.

The system's problems began on Thursday evening local time, the source said.

"The technical team is trying to restore the system as soon as possible," said AAI in an upload on X.

The authorities did not respond to further requests for comment on the cause of the damage.

CNN NEWS 18 broadcast reported authorities were investigating whether computer malware could be the cause.

The incident follows a ransomware attack disrupting several of Europe's largest airports, crippling an automated check-in system, and affecting flights in September.
