Danantara Prepares IDR 20 Trillion Funds To Make Chicken Farms

JAKARTA - The Danantara Investment Management Agency (BPI) has prepared a budget of IDR 20 trillion for the construction of broiler farms and integrated laying throughout Indonesia. The budget is to support the National Nutrition Food (MBG) program.

This was conveyed by the Minister of Agriculture Amran Sulaiman at a press conference at the Ministry of Agriculture Office, Jakarta, Friday, November 7.

Amran said the construction was aimed at ensuring that the needs of chicken and eggs for the MBG program were met.

Then, the integrated chicken, broiler and eggs farm has a special budget of IDR 20 trillion. We will make all of Indonesia to supply BGN. We supply, don't let the eggs and chickens go short or shortage in the future. So we prepare from now on, "said Amran.

Furthermore, Amran said that the program is planned to start running in January next year.

"(The budget comes from) Danantara. Then God willing, hopefully January will start," he said.

This step was taken as an effort by the government to prosper chicken farmers. Moreover, the Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan revealed that the condition of fishermen and breeders is still concerning.

Meanwhile, he continued, the condition of farmers is now much better. The welfare of farmers is slowly increasing with various policies issued by the government.

"The fishermen are still poor, the exchange rate is still 106-110. Similar to chicken breeders, egg breeders, it is not yet (sesejahtera)," said Zulhas during a meeting with farmers at Pupuk Cahaya Tani Kiosk, Tamelang Hamlet, Purwasari, Karawang, West Java, Thursday, November 6.

Zulhas, as he is familiarly called, said the government promised to improve the welfare of fishermen and breeders. He said the government would build large numbers of ponds, fishing villages, and livestock next year.

"Next year we will build in Java, West Java, 20,000 hectares of ponds. In pantura, we will build 2,000 fishing villages. This large amount will be built. Farmers will also be massive, chickens, laying, and so on, and so on," he said.

Zulhas said, this step is also in line with the increasing domestic demand from the Free Nutrition Food (MBG) program. Where, the government targets the distribution of MBG to reach 82.9 million recipients.

"Because next year, the President's policy will feed 82.9 million children, toddlers and pregnant women," he said.
