Efforts To Protect Earth Amid Pollution And Climate Change

JAKARTA - Protecting the environment is no longer just an option, but an urgent necessity for our lives today and for future generations. Every day, the earth shows signs of fatigue, from increasingly polluted air to unpredictable rainfall.

Pollution now originates not only from streets and factories, but even "falls from the sky." The National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN)'s findings, which indicate the presence of microplastic particles in Jakarta's rainwater, are a stark warning that the balance of nature is being disrupted.

Amidst this situation, small steps from individuals, communities, and the private sector are becoming increasingly important in preserving the earth.

One example is the Blibli Tiket Action program, which carries the theme "CollaborAction for the Earth," emphasizing the importance of cross-sector collaboration in protecting the environment through concrete actions and a sustainable lifestyle.

This year, Ecoground presents a fresher and more practical approach. More than 30 exercise, wellness, and workshop classes will be held to combine the spirit of healthy living with environmental awareness.

Through the four main zones of Eco Motion, Eco Market, Eco Labs, and Eco Stage, visitors are invited to experience firsthand how everyday habits can transform small steps into big impacts for the planet. No fewer than 50 partners from the corporate sector, academia, media, and communities are participating in this movement.

"We want visitors to not only come and enjoy the event, but also to be directly involved in various interactive classes. Every step and activity has meaning, because one contribution means one mangrove tree planted for the earth," said Lisa Widodo, COO & Co-Founder of Blibli.

The event will take place at Peruri City Forest Park, Jakarta, on November 8–9, 2025, with all elements of the activity designed based on sustainability principles.

From the use of renewable energy and measurable waste management to the provision of drinking water refill stations and eco-friendly cutlery, all reflect a commitment to minimizing the carbon footprint.

One of the inspiring figures involved is Cinta Laura, who returns as a Changemaker Partner. Through the Act of Love movement, she encourages young people at various universities in Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek) to cultivate empathy and change their perspective on sustainability.

"For me, the environmental movement begins with a sense of love for ourselves, others, and the earth we live in. Sustainability can begin with simple things we love: exercise, creativity, and caring," explained Cinta Laura.

Cross-sector collaboration is also a key strength of the Ecoground Earth Steps. The Djarum Foundation, through the Siap Darling movement, supports this effort by focusing on education and greening actions for the younger generation.

Meanwhile, Samsung Indonesia demonstrated its commitment through the Galaxy for the Planet initiative, which will transform marine plastic waste into eco-friendly technology components starting in 2022.

In a press conference held at Puja Bumi Kenduri (Puja Bumi Kenduri), representatives from Blibli and strategic partners inscribed a symbol of their commitment to sustainability on canvas. This symbolic action reflects the spirit of walking together to protect the earth through concrete and sustainable steps.

The public is also invited to become part of this movement. With contributions starting from IDR 50,000, participants not only gain access to exercise classes or workshops but also contribute to planting a mangrove seedling for the earth. Furthermore, the event will feature a music concert by Sal Priadi and Adrian Khalif, showcasing the harmony between art, the environment, and a green lifestyle.

More than just a festival, Langkah Membumi Ecoground 2025 is an invitation to make sustainability a part of everyday life. Every participant's participation will be converted into a mangrove tree planting activity with Jejakin, with environmental impact measurements following ISO 14040/44 standards by Life Cycle Indonesia.
