Metro Police Confirm Reno and Farhan's Skeleton Deaths Were Not Murders
JAKARTA - The Head of Public Relations of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, confirmed that the deaths of Reno Syahputradewo and Muhammad Farhan Hamid on the second floor of the ACC Kwitang Building in Senen District, Central Jakarta, were not murder.
"They were not (murder victims). They were trapped in a burning building during the riots. It was not (murder)," Senior Commissioner Budi told VOI on Friday, November 7, 2025.
Senior Commissioner Budi explained that the ACC Kwitang building was not operating at the time of the incident. It was only guarded by security.
"There was a riot, so there was no normal activity that day; the building was only guarded by security," he said.
The four-story building is believed to be Reno and Farhan's last remaining presence until they were trapped in the flames during the riots in the area.
"The two (victims) were close together on the second floor, trapped. Because they were on the second floor, they couldn't escape. They were about 1 to 2 meters apart," he said.
Previously, KontraS reported that two people were missing and unaccounted for, identified as M Farhan Hamid and Reno Syahputeradewo.
KontraS reported that the two were last seen in the Kwitang area, which was one of the hotspots of the riots on August 29, 2025.
Then, on Thursday, October 30, renovation workers at the Kwitang ACC building discovered two human skeletons buried under the ceiling.
The two skeletons were badly burned and unrecognizable. The skeletons were found on the second floor of the ACC building in Kwitang, Senen.
The Kwitang ACC building had previously burned during the riots in late August 2025.
