British Government To Consider Repatriation Of Reynhard Sinaga
DENPASAR - Deputy British Ambassador to Indonesia, Matthew Downing spoke about the opportunity to repatriate Indonesian citizen Reynhard Sinaga, after British convicts Lindsay June Sandiford (68) and Shahab Shahabadi (35) were repatriated.
Reynhard Sinaga is a convicted rape case with a life sentence and is being held at HMP Wakefield, England.
"This is a reciprocal agreement, which means that Indonesia can submit a request to repatriate Indonesian citizens detained in the UK, and the British government has committed to considering any incoming requests," Downing said during a press conference at the Class IIA Kerobokan Prison, in Badung Regency, Bali, Thursday, November 6.
According to him, the Indonesian government has not submitted a request for the repatriation of Reynhard Sinaga.
"And so far, there has been no request from Indonesia regarding any Indonesian prisoners detained in England," he said.

Previously, the Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration and Corrections Yusril Ihza Mahendra said there had been no discussion regarding the repatriation of convicts for life in the case of Reynhard Sinaga sexual assault with the British government.
The statement was in response to the reciprocal agreement in the repatriation of two narcotics convicts, Lindsay June Sandiford and Shahab Shahabadi, to England.
"There has been no decision from the Indonesian government to ask Indonesian citizens in the UK to be returned to Indonesia. So until today there has not been any," said Yusril.
