The Information Museum itself is one of the UPTs under the auspices of the Directorate General of Public Communication and Media. This institution has the main mandate to preserve and provide educational services to the public regarding historical and scientific objects in the field of communication and information.

In carrying out its duties, the Information Museum focuses on preparing a program to preserve historical collections, conservation and restoration of communication relics, as well as developing public educational activities.

In addition, this museum also acts as a means of disseminating information and strengthening communication history literacy through various exhibitions and learning activities.

The Ministry of Communication and Digital assesses that strengthening the organization and work procedures of the Information Museum is a strategic step to ensure the sustainability of the museum's function as a center for communication history literacy in Indonesia.
