PGN Strengthens National Food Security, Energy Support For MBG Program Gets Recognition
JAKARTA - PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk (PGN) as Pertamina's Gas Subholding continues to strengthen support for national priority programs in the field of food security and improving community nutrition. This commitment is realized through strategic collaboration with the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) in the implementation of the Free Nutrition Food Program (MBG).
Responding to the need for reliable, efficient, and sustainable energy supply to support the distribution of nutritious foodstuffs to various regions, PGN plays an active role in providing clean energy in the form of natural gas. Through pipelines and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) technology supported by complete infrastructure in several company operational areas.
As part of this commitment, PGN through its subsidiary, PT Gagas Energi Indonesia (PGN Gagas), plays an active role in ensuring the successful implementation of the MBG Program in the field. One example is in SPPG Kakersipat, Boyolali, Central Java.
Through PGN Gagas' support, natural gas supply is routinely distributed to meet the energy needs of cooking in the SPPG kitchen. Every day, SPPG Crowsipat prepares around 6,000 MBG portions for 34 surrounding schools. To ensure operational smooth running, PGN Gagas distributes around 2,000 3,000 m3 of natural gas per month using the CNG-based beyond pipeline mechanism. This innovation allows the provision of clean energy efficiently, even though the SPPG location is far from the main pipeline network.
For its contribution and consistency in supporting the national program, PGN won the National Priority Support Award from the Human Initiative at the Future Initiative Forum 2025. The award was handed over directly by the Deputy Minister of Social Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Agus Jabo Priyono, together with the President of Human Initiative, Tomy Hendrajati, at the peak event held in Jakarta.
PGN is committed to continuing to strengthen its role in supporting national programs that provide direct benefits for the community. One of them is through collaboration with the National Nutrition Agency in the Free Nutrition Food Program. We are ready to contribute through the provision of reliable, efficient, and environmentally friendly natural gas energy," said PGN Corporate Secretary, Fajriyah Usman, Thursday, November 6.

To date, PGN's natural gas distribution network has reached 17 provinces and 73 regencies/cities throughout Indonesia. Not only in areas that have been connected to gas pipelines, PGN also presents beyond pipeline solutions such as CNG, which allows clean energy services for the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) in areas that have not been reached by the main network.
"Through cross-sectoral collaboration, PGN will continue to innovate to provide clean energy solutions to strengthen national food security and support sustainability for future generations," concluded Fajriyah.
