Indonesia U-17 Will Get The First Experience Of VAR Card System At The 2025 U-17 World Cup

JAKARTA - The U-17 Indonesian national team is ready to start their journey at the 2025 Qatar U-17 World Cup against Zambia U-17 on November 4, 2025 at 22:45 WIB.

In addition to being a means of proving Garuda Muda on the world stage, this tournament will also provide a new experience in the match system, namely the implementation of a football video support or better known as a VAR card.

Unlike the VAR system in general, the 2025 U-17 World Cup does not use match office video officers.

Instead, the head coach of each team is given the right to submit a review request with a finger twist.

Review requests can only be made for four specific situations, namely goals or not goals, penalties or no penalties, direct red cards (not a second yellow card), and player identity errors.

Later, the main referee will review the special review area (RRA) and the initial decision will only be changed if the recording shows clear evidence that there was a real error or an important incident missed.

In written regulations, each team has two opportunities to review requests during matches. If after review the referee's decision changes, the team retains this right. If the initial decision is confirmed then one review request right will be lost.

For information, this VAR card system is a new innovation for FIFA to provide a greater role coach in match justice, as well as train young players to understand the application of technology in modern football.
