Ridwan Tola Dies After Jet Ski Overturned In Manado Bay, SAR Team Searches For 1 More Victim

MANADO - One of two victims drowned in Manado Bay, North Sulawesi, after playing a ski jet was found dead on Tuesday morning.

The victim, Ridwan Tola (25), a resident of Pakowa, was evacuated by the joint SAR team after searching since the morning.

"The SAR team will continue to search for one other victim," said Head of the North Sulawesi Search and Rescue Office (SAR), George Mercy Randang, through the Coordinator of the North Sulawesi Basarnas Field, IBN Ngurah Dormitory, in Manado, Tuesday.

After checking personnel and equipment at 06.30 WITA, the SAR team divided the personnel into four teams.

The North Sulawesi SAR Office lowered one rubber boat, one ski jet, one air drone, and a joint team of divers to monitor conditions around the location of the incident from the air and under the surface of the water.

"After conducting an intensive sweep of the joint dive area at a depth of 20 meters, about 60 meters from the last position, at 09.30 WITA, the team managed to find the victim on behalf of Ridwan Tola in a dead condition," he said.

The victim was then evacuated to Bhayangkara Manado Hospital for further treatment.

After the discovery of Ridwan, the joint SAR team is still searching for another victim who has not been found, namely Wandy Haikal (19), a resident of Sangihe. The search area is expanded by maximizing all elements involved.

Sebelumnya, kedua korban dilaporkan tenggelam saat bermain jet ski di perairan kawasan Megamas, Teluk Manado, pada Senin sore kemarin.

Kejadian bermula sekitar pukul 16.40 WITA, saat keduanya bermain jet ski di perairan tersebut. Sekitar pukul 17.15 WITA, jet ski yang mereka tumpangi diduga terbalik dan menyebabkan keduanya terjatuh ke laut.

Previously, the two victims reportedly drowned while playing jet ski in the waters of the Megamas area, Manado Bay, on Monday afternoon.

The incident began at around 16:40 WITA, when the two were playing jet ski in the waters. At around 17.15 WITA, the ski jet they were traveling in was thought to have capsized and caused both of them to fall into the sea.
