Important Info: Call 110 In East Kalimantan, Police Will Arrive In 10 Minutes
JAKARTA - Along with the inauguration of LinkAja cooperation with Balikpapan Police for digital payment of driver's license and SKCK (Police Record Certificate), the people of Balikpapan city can now also use the phone number 110 to ask for police assistance.
"Within a maximum of 10 minutes after the call is made, officers will arrive at the location," said East Kalimantan Police Chief, General Inspector Pol. Herry Rudolf Nahak, as reported by Antara, Friday, May 21.
Previously 110 emergency services were launched by the Police Chief and TNI Commander online. According to the Police Chief, the maximum time of 10 minutes calculates various possibilities. The responders are the police who are closest to the residents who report or with the reported place or incident.
Simply put, number 110 is the same as the 911 number in the United States, where citizens who need any assistance, whether police, ambulances or firefighters, can call the number.
To serve the 110 calls, as many as 70 personnel were prepared. They are from Balikpapan Police and from East Kalimantan Police. Members of the police who are from the Police department were transferred to the Police. In addition to personnel, 70 motorcycle units and 10 patrol cars were also prepared.
"Currently the personnel are undergoing training, especially how to respond quickly to public complaints," said the Police Chief. He added that with 110 emergency services, the police would truly uphold the motto "serve, protect."
On the other hand, the Police Chief also reminded the public not to make this 110 emergency call as an object of fun. Moreover, the number that the call is recorded and the calling position is visible on the police communication device.
"So we ask the public to really make the most of this, and not to prank," said the Police Chief.
Service 110 is actually an old number to ask for police help. This number has existed alongside ambulance phone number 118 since the 1970s or even earlier.
