President Zelensky Says He Hasn't Seen Europe's Plans To End The War
JAKARTA - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Monday he had not seen Europe's plans to end the war even though several countries on the continent had submitted proposals for a peaceful settlement.
"What's important in this matter is, have I, as president of Ukraine, seen this plan? No. There are various views and European proposals for a peaceful settlement," President Zelensky said.
He further said that neither US President Donald Trump nor European Leaders had been able to force Russia to join direct negotiations.
President Trump is known to have led efforts to end the war in Ukraine since starting his second term in January.
He met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska in August, and then proposed the idea of a trilateral meeting involving Zelenskyy.
However, Russia said the meeting between President Putin and President Zelensky needed careful preparation and had to produce a result.
Meanwhile, a new summit between President Trump and President Putin, originally planned to be held in Budapest, evaporated without clarity.

"Consultations are ongoing at the advisory level, but no final plans have yet been put forward," he said, adding that if there were plans developed with Europe, "Ukraine will discuss it with the United States, because America has their own vision."
The European peace plan, whose details are still limited, is said to include a ceasefire based on current lines of contact and then negotiations to end the war.
