Minister Of Religion Hopes The Catholic Church Session Becomes A Momentum For Strengthening Peace
Minister of Religion (Menag) Nasaruddin Umar hopes that the 2025 General Assembly of the Indonesian Catholic Church (SAGKI) will be a momentum to strengthen the spirit of peace and brotherhood across faith in the country.
"I hope this trial can become a medium to strengthen peace and increase the role of the Catholic church in realizing peace," said Minister of Religion Nasaruddin Umar when giving a speech at SAGKI 2025 in Jakarta, Monday, November 3, as reported by ANTARA.
Minister of Religion Nasaruddin congratulated the implementation of SAGKI 2025.
According to him, the theme Going together as a pilgrim of joy: Being a missionary Sinodal Church for peace is relevant to the spirit of the nation to walk together in peace and peace.
He emphasized the importance of the role of the Catholic church as part of a religious community in fighting for human values and peace.
The Minister of Religion quoted Pope Leo XIV's message as emphasizing "there is no more holy war, there is sacred peace."
"I hope this trial can become a medium to introduce peace and increase the role of the Catholic Church in realizing justice and brotherhood," said Minister of Religion Nasaruddin Umar.
According to him, SAGKI 2025 which brings together bishops, priests, monks, and Catholics, from various parts of Indonesia is an important forum to discuss various social and moral challenges faced by the nation.
"I believe this trial will find a solution to various national and diversity issues, as well as strengthen the contribution of the Catholic Church in building a harmonious and just life," said the Minister of Religion.

The Minister of Religion also expressed his appreciation for the real contribution of the Catholic Church in strengthening the values of humanity and interfaith solidarity. He hopes that SAGKI will produce a pastoral direction that fosters the spirit of mutual understanding, respect, and serving between religious communities.
